Methodology
The registry's data is classified by how well each value can be substantiated, using four ratings. These are surfaced on the model pages so you can weigh the figures accordingly.
The value appears in an archived source record and is internally consistent.
Inferred from partial data, operator commentary or community summaries where no complete record exists.
Two documented values disagree and cannot yet be resolved. We show that rather than pick one silently.
Known to have existed but not recovered. Shown as "—", never as zero.
Cross-referencing
Where possible, values are cross-checked against other records before publication. But a figure is never presented as more certain than its evidence: a Confirmed value is one that appears in an archived record and is internally consistent, while an Estimated one is inferred where no complete record exists — and each is labelled accordingly, so an estimate is never shown as confirmed.
Reconciliation
Where a model's colour or variant breakdown doesn't sum to its stated total, we surface the difference explicitly instead of quietly adjusting a number. For the R34 GT-R, for example, the by-colour total of 11,559 plus 19 units of undocumented colour reconciles to the 11,578-unit total — and we show that arithmetic on the page. The gap is the honest answer, not a rounding error.
